Ad fraud protection company HUMAN Security is expanding its Ad Integrity Suite to programmatic platforms, combining invalid-traffic, viewability and brand-safety signals. OpenX is the first to adopt it, integrating HUMAN’s signals into supply curation and deal creation.
“Trust is the actual currency of programmatic advertising, not scale,” said Chris Hallenbeck, OpenX’s VP of Marketplace Quality, in the release.
HUMAN says additional capabilities will roll out in the first half of 2027.

From tipsheet: The HUMAN–OpenX integration and PMG’s recent deployment of its Bedrock DSP inside Index Cloud point to the same shift: more decisioning is moving into the supply path, at two different layers.
- Changing which supply is selected: OpenX uses quality signals to shape how inventory is curated and packaged into deals.
- Changing where bids are made: PMG runs its buyer-side bidding logic inside Index Cloud, where it can evaluate the full stream of supply at auction.
Trust signals matter more as AI automates campaign decisions.

AGENTS
Agentic ad platform pubX gets funds, acquires
pubX is building advertising infrastructure where buyer-side and seller-side agents transact directly on the Ad Context Protocol (AdCP). It raised a $5 million Series A led by Chicago Ventures and acquired Compliant, bringing Compliant’s media-quality and governance capabilities for brands and agencies together with pubX’s publisher-side business.
pubX CEO Andrew Mole explained on LinkedIn yesterday, “Compliant’s media quality signals will sit inside every decision our agents make, before they buy. You tell the agents how you buy, you sign off where it matters, and every page of the brief gets read every single time. As trust is earned, autonomy grows.” Read more. (Oct. 6)
Compliant CEO Jamie Barnard calls the deal “a monumental entrance” rather than just an exit. He sees pubX as a chance to build a new advertising model from a blank slate, with agent-to-agent trading freeing people from low-value work. Read his post. (Oct. 6)
pubX plans to demonstrate the approach with a campaign for Reckitt’s Mucinex brand at a private Advertising Week lunch on Oct. 7. Reckitt’s trading team and participating publishers will review and accept the campaign as it happens.

COMMERCE MEDIA
Microsoft: Feed AI the full catalog
In a LinkedIn newsletter yesterday, Microsoft Advertising urged merchants to put their full sellable catalog in Merchant Center, even when some products aren’t being advertised. Complete product attributes—and details such as return and support policies—could help AI shopping experiences understand what a merchant sells and what products to recommend.
From the newsletter:
“Make your full catalog available and crawlable for AI
Product feeds aren’t just advertising infrastructure anymore. They’re becoming a structured source of product information that AI-powered shopping experiences can use to understand what you sell and determine if they should recommend your products.”

From tipsheet: Just something to note here… discovery vs. licensing.
- For merchants, the message is to make product data available to help AI systems surface their products.
- For publishers, Publisher Content Marketplace (PCM) offers a framework for licensed content access.
At PCM’s launch, Microsoft said it would expand the marketplace to partners that share its principles for an AI web that respects quality content and gives journalists, creators, and subject-matter experts a durable role.

DATA
Databricks connects to Meta’s ads
Databricks is bringing Meta’s ads MCP server to its Marketplace, letting marketers use its AI assistant Genie to explore campaign performance alongside governed business data and act on campaigns in the same conversation. As Databricks puts it, “An LTV score, a propensity model, a margin table, and an inventory forecast each capture something useful about the business. Bringing that context into the same agent workflow as Meta’s advertising tools gives teams a way to use it in everyday campaign operations.”

AGENCIES
Tinuiti wants a place in the agent stack
Performance agency Tinuiti is opening its Bliss Point measurement layer to brands’ AI agents, making client-approved, normalized cross-channel media data available through an MCP server.
Ad Age’s Brandon Doerrer writes: “Tinuiti, in particular, is pushing the agency role into new territory by launching a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for its marketing operating system, giving clients the ability to connect their own AI agents directly to Tinuiti’s cross-channel media data.”

SEARCH
How to create trust signals, by Google
Google’s updated guidance encourages publishers to identify authors clearly, with accurate bylines that link to information about them. It also warns against fabricated creator profiles, including AI-generated headshots, made-up names and false credentials. Google says this kind of deception makes pages untrustworthy to readers and its quality systems, and signals low quality.

TECH
Debates: Agentic media buying
Daniel Gilbert, CEO of agentic media agency Brainlabs on LinkedIn yesterday (lightly edited):
“Is it just me or is agent-to-agent media buying a pointless/underwhelming application of AI? Don’t know why it’s getting so much attention, maybe just cos AI is so new and confusing and holdco/adtech types love to confuse their clients.
I am willing to be proven wrong but the idea that you get your buying agent to negotiate with an agent representing the media owner… like what is the point?!…”

CONNECTED TV
Pinterest’s tvScientific bet: intent meets AI
In an op-ed on the tvScientific by Pinterest’s blog, co-founder and CEO Jason Fairchild lays out the strategic logic behind Pinterest’s acquisition of the CTV ad platform. Pinterest brought planning and discovery signals that can indicate what people may want next; tvScientific added the CTV buying and measurement platform to activate those audiences beyond Pinterest.
Fairchild argues that TV can use those early signals to shape demand, rather than simply reach people after they’ve begun shopping. “TV no longer has to function only as a broad-reach medium. It can become a performance channel where early intent signals are activated at scale, in a high-attention environment.”
Pinterest announced the acquisition last December; it closed in February.
Read: The future of TV targeting is intent, not behavior (Oct. 6) – Jason Fairchild on tvScientific by Pinterest blog
From tipsheet: Putting the AI context around the acquisition, the opportunity begins with intent:
- Pinterest’s intent signals come from people’s searches, saves and planning activity.
- Pinterest’s AI uses those signals to personalize discovery;
- tvScientific’s AI can use Pinterest audiences and campaign data to optimize CTV delivery.
- The acquisition links those planning signals to TV execution and outcome measurement.
